A spell for putting someone’s mind at ease & bringing their soul a quiet repose. This is what I used, but it is a bit elaborate, so feel free to condense and substitute/change things as need be.
What you need:
Lavender
Bay leaf
Dandelion tufts
Eucalyptus leaves
Frankincense essential oil
Cup of water
Candle with Othala (or any corresponding sigil)
Athame
Bowl
Pen/pencil
Items to cast a circle.
A semi-dark room.
NOTE: the athame and the casting of a circle are wiccan in nature, but one does not have to be wiccan to utilize these tools/methods. I myself am not wiccan, but find an athame to be a great way to direct my energy. And I choose to cast a circle for stronger spells because I like the idea of having my energy/magick contained in a certain spot. An athame does not need to be a blade (I use a blade-shaped deer antler) and you can cast a circle with any items that hold meaning or value to you (I use specific natural curio items I’ve collected over the years, like wasps nests, fossilized leaves, an alligator foot, etc.).
Directions:
Make your room as dark as possible to remove stimulus and distractions. Light your candle and cast your circle (this is where the athame and the casting objects come into play). Seated inside the circle, pour the water into the bowl, then add a few drops of the frankincense essential oil. Sprinkle in the lavender, eucalyptus, and dandelion tufts.
Next, write the name of the individual whom you are trying to help put at ease onto the bay leaf, then dip the leaf into the candle flame and let it burn until it naturally goes out, or blow it out before it reaches your fingers (safety first!). Then drop the bay leaf into the bowl, saying the name of the person and the intent as you do so. Example: “John Doe, ad quies.”
(Ad quies is Latin for at rest).
Close your eyes, place your hands over the bowl, and focus on pulling forth your energy. Visualize the person as you hope them to be (happy, at peace). Here you can say an incantation if you find yourself wanting to. I like to add a chant that helps ground me and helps me manifest my magick. And because I work with deities, I used:
Feet like roots,
Mind with the gods,
Bring forth my power,
To meet all odds.
When you feel like you’ve focused enough energy, end the spell by removing the circle you cast. Bury the water mixture outside in a fertile spot to encourage its success.
